Digital X-Rays

Experience the latest in dental technology at our Pittsburgh practice with Digital Radiography. Using an electronic sensor, this technique captures and stores digital images on a computer, allowing instant viewing and enlargement for easier problem detection. Compared to traditional dental x-rays, digital x-rays reduce radiation exposure by 80-90%. These essential diagnostic tools help detect abnormalities, ensuring a safe and accurate treatment plan that may go undetected in a regular dental exam.

Dental X-Rays may reveal:

  • Bone loss

  • Cancerous or non-cancerous tumors

  • Decay between the teeth

  • Developmental abnormalities

  • Poor tooth and root positions

  • Problems inside a tooth or below the gum line

Concerned about radiation exposure?

Digital x-rays at our practice offer a significantly lower radiation level than traditional methods. Not only are they better for patient health, but they're also faster and more comfortable. Additionally, the electronic capture eliminates the need for developing x-rays, reducing harmful waste disposal. While digital x-rays are considered safe, we take precautions, ensuring they are only taken when necessary to limit patient exposure.

Your dental x-ray needs are personalized to your dental health. Dr. Pawlowicz considers your medical history, dental exam, age, and risk factors to recommend necessary x-rays. New patients often require a full mouth series, generally valid for three to five years. Bite-wing x-rays, taken during recall visits, are recommended once or twice a year to detect emerging dental issues.

Detecting and treating dental problems at an early stage may save you time, money, unnecessary discomfort, and your teeth!
